ABOUT THE BOOK: Katerina Sanders (Kat) is a young woman the reader loves to hate but also can’t help but love. She is a gorgeous pre-med student about to graduate from college and embark on the next stage of her idyllic life. Kat followed a meticulous, step-by-step plan to achieve her dreams.

But Kat is about to encounter the real world, where planning, to-do lists, and calendars will only get her so far. Accompanied by her loyal sister, Angie, and with the support of her boyfriend, Mason, Kat journeys from California to New York to work in a research lab, in preparation for what she assumes will be a triumphant career in her chosen medical school.

However, while pursuing her "dream," which she begins to question more and more with each passing day of her journey, Kat watches her perfectly planned life rapidly crumble as everything that could possibly go wrong, does, until she ultimately experiences the biggest rejection of her life from her dream medical school.

But though she meets with such dramatic failure, Kat finds something better: the strength to persevere, to be resilient, and to figure out Plan B on the spot, when there is no time to strategize. It is only when life completely breaks Kat down and rips away all the factors making up her perfectly planned existence that Kat is finally set free from the cage she'd been unknowingly living in, and is ready to let her life naturally unfold as it may.
