ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Born in 1961 in what was then Rhodesia, Andrew attended Falcon College before being conscripted into the Rhodesian army, where he was selected for officer training and later served as a bodyguard to Lieutenant-Colonel Stokes, based at Rhodesian military headquarters. Following his release from the military, he attended the University of Cape Town, where he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree and trained to be a teacher. He has since published a Matric History textbook and has served as the Head of Academics at Pecanwood College, before joining the enormous Curro Corporation.
Having grown up in the African bush, I have a great love of nature and wildlife. I am an avid reader, and am also fascinated by palaeontology and archaeology. Having lived in close proximity to some of the ancient ruins in Zimbabwe, and having explored many of them, I am fascinated by their mystique and the ever-changing theories about their origins. Although it is certain that they were built by the Bantu peoples, "Kataza" explores an alternative possibility.
