New Call for Short Story Submissions

3/2/2016

Call for Submissions:  Dreaming Big Publications is teaming up with Orcs Unlimited to produce a short story collection tentatively titled PLUSHINOMICON: THE LEGENDS OF TEDDY BEAR ISLAND based on the world and characters from Orcs Unlimited’s upcoming RPG, ESCAPE FROM TEDDY BEAR ISLAND.

Stories should be approximately 2k-3k in length and preferable written in first person POV using the setting and characters from the soon-to-be released RPG titled Escape from Teddy Bear Island from Orcs Unlimited. The idea is for the stories to be able to stand alone as entertaining reads, but to also be suitable for players to use for game scenarios and campaigns.  The pay will be negotiated upon acceptance of the final draft, but the monetary payment will be approximately $10-$15 per story and will not include a free contributor’s copy. Rights to the stories will belong to Pat McNary of Orcs Unlimited.

Email Kristi at dreamingbigproductions@outlook.com, pdffrogger@att.net, or use Dreaming Big’s website contact form to ask for the detailed STORY BIBLE if you are interested in writing a story for this collection. Please query first with your story idea to receive approval. Upon approval, we do need a quick turnaround (approximately 30 days) if we are to coincide publication with the game.

The Story: A long time ago the great Flufamancer Jessie came to Teddy bear Island. Jessie was running from the mainland as he had upset many people with his experiments. Some called them unnatural. Some said it was against the law. Others said it was just plain creepy.

What, you may ask, did Jessie the Flufamancer do? Well, he animated the plush creatures of the children. Then he made them do his evil bidding. I can’t even begin to tell you about the bidding that he bade, but just believe me when I tell you that it was evil!

Anyway, he ended up on this island and built a giant teddy bear-shaped temple. Then he called all the Plushies to his temple and, well…. he died.  At least we think he did. He hasn’t been seen since. Maybe the teddy bears ate him. Now the island is overrun by out of control evil plush toys.

Can you survive Teddy Bear Island?

Character races can be Human, Orc, Elf, Kobold, or Dwarf and classes can be Priest, Magician, Warrior, Adventurer, or Jack-of-all-Trades. Contact Kristi for the Story Bible to get started.
