My Review
3 out of 5 stars
The concept itself is incredibly intriguing and definitely new and never heard of. This aspect is what really draws the reader in and makes them continue reading. One simply must discover what happens to Quiti and the hairball and what impact this will have on Earth. However, while the book is enjoyable to read for its content, the dialogue isn’t always great. The characters speak mostly in robotic and awkward phrases throughout the novel.
Although the characters don’t always sound real, they do feel real for the most part. There are a few enjoyable and truly likable characters in the novel. Unfortunately, Quiti is not one of these characters. She isn’t shown having much of a personality which makes it hard to grow attached to her. She is constantly referred to as bland, plain, and ordinary which doesn’t help the reader connect to her or see her as an interesting protagonist.
Putting these few critiques aside, the novel is worth the read as the world created is strange and intriguing. Hair Power is a good start to what can be a great series.
