ABOUT THE BOOK
Lana and Val are best friends who both have bad luck with men, until they finally meet someone. For Lana, it's her hot new boss, Leo. For single mother Val, she meets sexy detective, Travis, through an unfortunate situation. When Leo suddenly ends the affair, Lana plays a dangerous game of cat and mouse to find out why. Val must decide whether to stand by her friend or follow the law. Will Lana's actions tear them apart or can their relationship survive?
MY REVIEW: 3 out of 5 stars
Closure or Ammo opens with a humorous sex scene where Lana can’t recall the name of her random pick up from a bar and this immediately caught my interest. However as the story continued, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed in Lana and Val’s lack of character development. Lana and Val are adult women in their 30s but at times their actions and words were very immature. I had trouble relating to either woman due to this because I felt like the author was almost trying too hard to appeal to a younger audience. The novella’s plot is slightly entertaining though I found it to be cliché at some points. Overall I felt there was too much unnecessary dialogue and a lot of the time the conversations between the characters felt forced. Closure or Ammo’s ending felt rushed and at the same time I wasn’t very surprised by it. Given this book is a novella and the first of a trilogy, I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
