Even in isolation
We all search through different means
And methods for the touch of reassurance;
On our warmly worn bodies
Or in our minds, or in their projections
Of reassurance and warmth
Even in isolation
We can be frozen soil in the
Packed lot of plastic uniformity
We can ignore disparate, intrapersonal deformities
But, this is not enough
For what we search
Is wired within a system, a machine,
Lacking a solitary ghost
As we all are
And we can still breathe and love and fight together
Even in isolation
Huddled together,
Beneath a blanket with terms for:
“Unity” and “understanding” and “acceptance”
And “Reassurance”
A steady flow of surreptitious trust
In ourselves, and in our cells
Each one, walled off, respectively
Even in isolation
