Tell us about your latest book.
Touching Death is the first in a series. Rachel Angeletti has a gift. One touch and she can see the past. Her gift is an asset to her job at the museum. But when she touches a ceremonial knife from the past she sees a murder from the present. Now she may be the only one that can catch a killer.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have so many! I love J.D. Robb and Nora Roberts, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, David Baldacci, Janet Evanovich, Tami Hoag. Obviously I love to read.
What advice do you have for other writers?
Write. No matter what, write. I don’t love everything I’ve ever written, but I learn and grow as a writer with every word I write.
What's the best thing about being a writer?
It’s fun. I get to write in my pajamas on my sofa with my cat at my side. Life can’t get much better than that.
What’s the hardest thing about being a writer?
Good question. The first negative review was the hardest thing for me. I knew that there would be negative reviews. People like different things. That’s the great thing about them. But … when I read that first review that was negative? I was crushed. I’ve learned how to deal and even learn from the negative, but that first one was rough! Now when I get a negative review I try to look at it objectively to see if I can learn anything from it. After that I go and read the negative reviews for some of my favorite books. I figure if they got negative reviews I can deal with a few!
Where can people find out more about you and your writing?
Come visit me on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/bjohnsonauthor or my blog bjohnson-author.blogspot.com. I’d love to hear from you!
How long did it take you to write your book?

It took me about three months to write the first draft of Touching Death. The editing took much longer!

Where can a reader purchase your book?

Touching Death is available on Amazon. Check out my author page.

Who inspires you?

Everything inspires me! I have so many stories in my head. Sometimes I find inspiration in the craziest places. I recently went to writer’s conference. I walked away with a ton of great information and several new story ideas!

How do you research your books?

I have mad google-fu skills. I also try to make things as realistic as possible, so when I have a difficult scene I try to do what I can to put myself in the characters’ shoes. I’ve had friends tie me up and lock me in a car trunk so I could write it realistically.

Do you have another work in progress? Tell us about it.

I’m currently working on a standalone novel. It’s a thriller about a small town plagued by mysterious creatures.

Have you written other books? Where can readers purchase them?

I have another mystery trilogy: Run, Stand, and Redemption. They are all available on Amazon.

Does your family support you in your writing career? How?

My family is very supportive. My sister was the first person to encourage me to try and publish what I wrote and my niece says she’s my biggest fan.

What are you currently reading?

I just started The Heist by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg. I recently had an opportunity to meet Lee Goldberg. He is such a nice, funny guy that I just had to get his book. If he made me laugh that much in person I can’t wait to read his book.

When you’re not writing, how do you spend your time?

Reading. LOL. If you haven’t figured it out yet I love books. My next tattoo is an open book with the pages blowing. Otherwise I love watching movies, good TV shows like The Walking Dead, yoga and cooking.

What is your favorite line from a movie?

“We’re going to need some new FBI guys.” Die Hard

What do you like to snack on while you write?

Chocolate. Anything chocolate.

When you walk into a book store, where is the first place you go?

New fiction. I read pretty quickly so I am always looking for something new. I can spend hours in a bookstore.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

People who drive with their blinker on, but never turn. Why? Where are you going? Just turn! It kills me. Although I have done it myself a few times. I felt pretty sheepish.

I am a fan of thriller and horror genres in novels. I like it when I have no idea of where the plot is going or what is going on. I always like to be puzzled while reading. I hope that Becky Johnson writes more books like this. She also seems to have a fun personality despite having to write such contrast works. I'll be looking forward to more of her works and I hope you keep us posted.
